South Union Park: Amazing Homemade Pasta near Kembangan

South Union Park: Amazing Homemade Pasta near Kembangan

About South Union Park

An iconic fixture in the heartland café scene, South Union Park has come a long way I first visited in 2017. It used to be one of the better kept secrets in the East but these days, you will always find a queue so do reserve ahead

1-for-1 with Burpple Beyond

We decided to visit again today to make use of the Burpple Beyond 1 for 1 promotion on mains. If you don’t already have Burpple, get it NOW – it’s only $99/year and easily pays for itself. I’ve saved over $2000 with it over 2 years.

Brunch & Mains

South Union Park’s menu has grown extensively and is packed with mouth-watering European-inspired options.

We were super excited to try the Duck Tagliatelle ($24). This is the number one dish that is raved about consistently in reviews. A SUP original creation, it is an awesome combination of tender duck, light & garlicky sauce finished with a crunch of hazelnuts.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is now one of my favorite pastas of all time.

South Union Park duck tagliatelle

The tagliatelle in this dish homemade by South Union Park itself. Hence, it definitely has a softer and more flavorful bite compared to boxed pasta. Everything goes amazingly well together, don’t think too much and just order this okay?

Moving on to the next dish, the Duck Confit Hash ($21) from the brunch section. I felt that this was really unique, consisting of tater tots topped with poached eggs, spinach, strips of duck and red wine sauce.

Novelty aside, this dish was just alright. While initially tasty, the eggs, sauce and spinach made the tater tots a bit soggy after a while. If I had a do-over, I would have probably gotten their Wagyu Burger ($25) or Truffle Kombu Fries ($14) instead.

You do have to admit it makes for a great Insta-moment though. Just look at that runny egg!

Specialty Drinks

On the drinks front, you should probably give their Chocolate Shake ($10) a pass. I was quite disappointed as it wasn’t creamy or sweet like you would expect a milkshake to be and pricey at $10.

The Verdict

I do think South Union Park has some really reliable, fantastic specials that I will keep going back and a few misses like the above won’t change that.

In addition, the ongoing Burpple 1-for-1 promotions make it doubly worth it, so can’t wait to be back again next time.
