Kko Kko Nara has been a mainstay in the Korean food scene in Singapore for years now. We found ourselves craving some authentic Korean food while in Jewel Changi Airport & were psyched to learn that Kko Kko Nara has an outlet there!
The restaurant is tucked away to a far corner of the second floor so be prepared for a short walk though.

The restaurant itself is not all that big unlike the spacious Tanjong Pagar outlet. However, a big draw is that there are 3-4 tables further inside the restaurant that have a great view of the Rain Vortex (that famous huge waterfall). Definitely ask to be seated in this area, the view is lovely.

We weren’t lucky enough to get a table in that section and ended up sitting in this slightly less magnificent area. We could still glimpse the waterfall from the side though, so all’s good.

Tasty & Well Seasoned Banchan
Kko Kko Nara serves up a selection of four free-flow Korean side dishes (banchan). These were all of my favourites; anchovies, kimchi, cucumber kimchi and Korean fish cake. The seasoning was just right on all of them and we had to restrain ourselves from going overboard on these.

Lunch Sets: Value-for-Money At Just $18++
As we were at Jewel on a weekday afternoon, we got to enjoy Kko Kko Napa’s weekday lunch set deal. For $18++, we got a Soft Tofu Stew (soondubu), 3 pieces of crispy chicken (original/garlic soy) and of course rice. This works out to about 30% off which is not bad indeed.
There are other combinations of the lunch set so do head down to take a look!

The Soft Tofu Stew was chock-full of ingredients and very generous with the amount of seafood given. The broth was also homey, rich and not too spicy.
Big thumbs up for the chicken wings which came out freshly fried and crackly. Each piece is coated in addictive garlic soy sauce and you really can’t stop at just one. I was also pleasantly surprised at how big the wings were, guess I am too used to tiny ones (looking at you 4 Fingers).

Can’t Resist More Chicken!
Besides the sets, we couldn’t resist more flavours of chicken and added on an 8pc Honey Shioking Chicken ($25). This tasted very similar to the garlic soy chicken though but slightly sweeter. Similar to the garlic soy wings, each piece was pretty large and satisfying. I would probably try one of the spicy chicken flavours the next time for variety though.

Finally, we got a fluffy Steamed Egg ($12) that arrived piping hot. Kko Kko Nara’s version of steamed egg was pretty standard and it’s generally hard to go wrong with this dish. It’s a great addition to balance out the spicy stews and all that chicken.

The Verdict
Overall, this was a value-for-money meal mainly because of the lunch set deal. I wouldn’t travel all the way to Jewel for it, but it’s a decent option to get your Korean fix if you’re already in the area as the food is fairly authentic and good quality.
