Grand, Sprawling Resort in the East
Dusit Thani Laguna is one of the newer hotels in Singapore, opening in December 2020. This huge resort has golf courses, dining establishments, a spa and an epic pool that promises to keep anyone busy for the duration of their stay. We decided to visit for a short family staycation towards the end of the 2021 to check it out.
The grand entrance of Dusit Thani Laguna is a sight to behold; it is almost as if you are not in Singapore anymore with all that space.

Getting There
Dusit Thani Laguna is located about 5 minutes by car from Tanah Merah MRT (there are no direct buses). There is also a complimentary shuttle service from both Jewel Changi Airport or Changi City Point (check out Dusit Thani’s website for the most updated schedule and information). Do note that pre-registration is required for the shuttle.

Digital Check-in Process
A week or so before our stay, Dusit Thani reached out to us with check-in details requiring us to download apps which we thought was optional but turned out to be compulsory. This made the check-in process slower for us because everyone had to install an app on their phone before they could be get their digital room keys. So, a word of advice, don’t ignore the emails.

The front desk staff were incredibly polite and helpful but still, our check-in took about 30 minutes because of this despite us being the only customers being served on that Friday afternoon. No card keys are issued and you may access your room using the Bluetooth-enabled app.
For the record, I really miss having physical key cards as they just make the vacation feel a bit more complete. Also the app took about 3-4 tries before it managed to scan properly for both the room and elevator access which got pretty annoying.

Deluxe Laguna Pool View Room
We got the Deluxe Pool View Room which was a comfortable size. There is a small work table near the window as well as a sweet 55-inch Smart TV. The view of the pool is pretty great as well, but the exterior of window was really dusty (you can see it somewhat in the picture below) which was quite a let-down as the view did cost a little bit extra.

The bathroom was spacious, with a rain shower and smooth marble countertops. The room configuration we booked didn’t come with a tub.
Besides the room basics, a huge plus was that the overall sound proofing was excellent as it dulled out most of the plane sounds. This is super important as Dusit Thani is right under many flight paths as it is so close to Changi Airport. We could hear some dull humming whenever planes flew overhead, but nothing too major.

Refreshments & Amenities
The room package came with a complimentary minibar full of drinks and light snacks (nuts and granola bars). Everything tends towards the healthier side though, so those looking for Coke and chips would be disappointed. All in all, it was a decent selection.

The room also has a range of 4 different Ronnefeldt tea bags and Lavazzo coffee. These are awesome to have after a long day of swimming and general relaxation.

There are also your typical bathroom amenities, including a dental kit, comb, cotton pads, shower cap and more.

Finally, we particularly enjoyed these very comfy, premium-feeling bathroom slippers.

Spend the Afternoon Lounging By the Pool
The three pools at Dusit Thani Laguna are pretty spectacular. The grandest is a semi-lap pool with a deeper end on one side and a shallower relaxation end on the other. There are a few jacuzzi circles and jacuzzi beds that you can relax on as well.

Towards the end, there is an Instagram wading pool where most people take their Insta-worthy relaxing shot. Unfortunately, this was closed when we went due to the lockdown.

Finally, there is a shallow, basic kiddie pool. It’s good enough for some splashing around which seemed to entertain the little kids well enough.

There are numerous sun beds along the side of the pool that you can lounge in and get snacks and refreshments sent right to your seat from the Tee Deck restaurant.
All in all, we were really impressed with the pools. If chilling by the pool is your thing, I highly recommend you put this place on your list.

Free Flow Breakfast Buffet
One of the best parts of a staycation is waking up to a lovely breakfast. Dusit Thani Laguna serves up its breakfast buffet in the Greenhouse Restaurant. The restaurant has a beautiful lush indoor garden concept and two-storey windows that let in a ton of natural light.

The breakfast was absolutely brilliant, consisting of a free-flow buffet with favourites like Eggs Benedict, Eggs & Sides, Nasi Lemak, Dim Sum & Lemon Matcha Pancakes. Read on here for our full review.
Besides breakfast, Greenhouse also serves up lunch, afternoon tea and dinner from a variety of cuisines. We tried 3 meals here in total and loved it.

The Verdict
Overall, Dusit Thani Laguna is definitely a lovely escape from the city which is much needed in these times. There are some teething issues that do add a blip to an otherwise great stay, such as the spotty digital room keys and dusty windows but the other aspects made up for it. The breakfast was fantastic and we enjoyed the pool a lot. Finally, the service was also excellent, with staff going the extra mile to help.
Spent: $500 per room (Deluxe Pool View Room inclusive of breakfast, afternoon tea and $30 dining credits)
